Entrecard Experiment #1: Chain Drops.

picture - entrecard logo I somewhat hinted that I was going to post about an experiment that I did at Entrecard, and this is my first phase that I would like to discuss. “Chain Drops”.

Some of you liked this from me, others hated it. I have been blindly chain-dropping my card in every category that had an advertising price of over 60. Sounds fun, no?

What did this entitle?

I went and clicked on every category, I then found the top entercarders who had a price of over 60 credits, and then I dropped on their blog. I did 300 drops a day for the last 5 days. The results were quite pleasant. I went from an advertising score of 10EC to over 200EC and rising.

If you Drop on my Blog Daily:

I am preparing for my next phase, instead of just blindly dropping, I will be paying attention to what I drop and what gets me drops. So if you drop on this blog daily, guess what? That means that I will drop on your blog daily. I am slowly building up a ‘YouDropIDrop’ list which I might post in the future. Within just 5 days:

I skyrocketed my blog to the top 15 in my category. Pretty good for someone who just felt like experimenting. I have been paying attention to the people who drop on my blog and I will be starting to drop them regularly. So if you want a free drop, you know what to do ;). If you have been dropping regularly on this blog, I have been dropping back. However, if for some reason that I have missed you and you drop on a daily basis, message me or leave a comment.

300 a day? Your crazy!

… Maybe a little bit. However, for my chain-dropping experiment, I used Opera (and removed all the images and sounds and scripts). If I read something I was interested in, I commented, but to save me some time and have a quicker load up on the blog so I could drop quicker, it had to be done. (I still left quite a few comments though).

Next Phase:

I will be chain dropping for the next few days (probably 3-4), but if you leave a message, I will include you on my list, whether you have over 40-60 entrecard credits or not! With this experiment gone and under way, I managed to rack in over 4000 credits which were used on mass-advertising this blog. It is quite fun to see how many clicks I get from certain blogs. I have only had a few activated so far, but I have already gained some nice traffic from them.

I used to chain dropping in the early days I joined EC, but today, I try to dropped back to peoples that dropped their cards into my inbox. If I have the time and mood, I’ll do chain dropping, but nowadays it’s hard for me to chaindroping cause there are many blogs I visited that have good post, and it took times to read them

@BaseGuardian: I completely agree. I just wanted to show people what someone could do with a bit of dedication and a quick clicker I will much rather enjoy dropping the people who dropped me or comment me. Thanks for leaving a Comment though! Meant alot!

This is an interesting experiment - I have been doing some similar things, dropping the full 300 limit almost every day. Yesterday I switched things up a bit. Instead of simply doing reciprocal drops from the inbox and then moving on to the Powerdropping/fast loading sites, I went through some of the categories and started at the bottom, hitting all of the newbie sites until I reached 20 credits or so. If any of them looked like legit sites and had an easily recognizable widget, I purchased relatively inexpensive ads through them too.

My theory with this is that the newbies will be easier to draw attention from at first because they aren’t used to getting many drops yet. Some of these people will reciprocate the drops, at which point I will be able to reciprocate them most of the time also because their widget will show up in my inbox the next day.

So far the new strategy seems to be paying off. I had been stuck around 70-80 daily drops on me since I started with Entrecard about three weeks ago, but today I just surpassed 100 drops and the day is not over yet. I also have a lot more ads in circulation than I normally do, which is drawing in more clicks.

I am figuring out that part of the trick to bringing in a steady influx of credits is to avoid falling into too much of a rut with a set routine and be more willing to mix things up when it comes to visiting other sites. This makes sense from an advertising perspective - it is always a good idea to get fresh faces in front of your site because it increases the chances that someone will comment, subscribe, bookmark, click on an ad, or maybe even purchase something through your affiliate links. As a side benefit, it seems to help with Alexa rankings too.

@ Karlonia: I definitely agree with you there I have surpassed 100 drops today as well and it feels great for only 5 days of work. (When prior to this experiment, I was at 10ec because I kind of neglected entrecard for about 2 weeks).

Interesting experiment. I’ll have to try it myself. One of my blogs which I added to Entrecard suddenly jumped from around 25 credits to about 150 credits to advertise on without me really doing anything much. And I’m not a very regular dropper either. Any thoughts?

Its seems you are doing good with Entrecard, Nice to know, yeah its a good technique, i have experimented this before, its really increase your price

I haven’t really been dropping for more than a week now and I am up there in the ranks. I guess that it’s useful to chain drop once in a while and take brakes other times.

@ 1 Million: The thing which I think that keeps you going is the fact that you have some visibility, whether in forums or for the fact that people have known you for a while. I got in pretty late and when I did, I was able to get about 70EC and then I kinda started to dwindle because I didn’t care much.

That is when I decided to get my butt in gear and test out this experiment, in which it worked. I am currently trying to die off and get to about 150 EC before trying experiment #2
