Archives for the 'General' CategoryA Sincere Apology and Realization.
Though I thought I was being rather witty in my “Blogging Mistake” post, I seem to have offended someone who I have followed in their blogging career for quite some time (since they started, to my knowledge, and watched them progress). Though my mood may have been been a little off during that day, I seem to have targeted my first real negative e-mail/comment. Not just a link-bait in my opinion (like in the case of DayJobNuker), but something which kind of got to me. I’m Giddy.. but it doesn’t feel like a happy giddy. Not sure whether I should celebrate or rethink my strategy a bit. On a regular basis, I get about 5-15 e-mails per day from Thinkblogger, each asking me certain questions and trying to ask for tips in certain areas of blogging or being a webmaster. It really thrills me to read your e-mails by the way and please keep them coming :). Though I have gained a small readership, it looks like I may have went a little too far with that post. However, the overall theme behind the post itself was to basically rise above and make a name for yourself, so you do NOT get flooded by the 130,000+ new blogs created every day (or at least that is recorded by technorati). What you should know. For that post, or any post really, I do not make much money, if at all. That is not what this blog is about. I am a SEO/Marketing/Tip blog, not a ‘make money’ blog, though I do plan to touch upon some of those aspects in the future, I do not intend to make money from it. I do not ask for people to sign up under me, even though I think I can get away with it, due to my awesome whit and charm ;). I love to blog. I love to write. I do not do it for the money like most bloggers do (especially when they first try to get into blogging - the current idea behind it is rather depressing), I blog because I just… love blogging. The “Hosting” sign up comment. That was a little different, I have never tried to pitch something in my posts. I offered to give people money to sign up under my affiliate program for a few of the more well trusted hosting companies. It worked, I managed to find 3 people who were interested. You know what though? I didn’t receive a single penny from it. Well, I did.. >_> .. but I gave 100% of it to the 3 people that contacted me through the “Contact Us” section on Thinkblogger. I personally just wanted to give something back to people who wanted to give some serious thought into switching to a .com domain but didn’t know if they wanted to shell out all that money on hosting. Just so you know: I am not trying to eliminate the little guy at all; infact, all my efforts and posts about blogging try to help out the little guy. All the tips I give on how to gain RSS submissions or how to gain that extra boost of traffic is for you and your benefit. Not for mine. I AM an underdog in this one myself ;). I do not consider myself a big fish, nor would I ever want to. If I start poisoning my blog with more sponsored review posts than actual content or my witty sense of humor, THEN and only then should you think that I am becoming the common power-hungry ‘big fish’. Personally, I do not wish for that to ever happen. I turned down 6 posts from Payperpost because they didn’t suit this blog at all and I thought it would lower the standard. So again, I apologies for any discomfort I caused any of the entrecard droppers who saw that post on that day, or any of my daily readers who got a little weirded out. If you didn’t get offended, then no worries. Just ignore this post. For those that did, I apologize. I spy with my Little Eye!
I spy… … with my little eye, something that is White! Take a wild guess? maybe just a little one? If you guessed snow………… well ………… it was obvious. It’s March, can’t a guy have a bit of Spring already? I know, a bit premature. We still have a 1-2 weeks. Honestly though, we received about 30-40cm of snow over night. We also had freezing fog in the morning which I had to jog through just so I could catch the right bus. Some of you: Some of you, yes, are lucky. You are closer to the earth’s waist and you have nicer temperatures. I, however, am stuck in the pit of hell.. that is, if hell was frozen over, somewhere in the region of Canada. It was cold… and it will stay that way. Today, it was pretty bad. I must admit. I had bits of frost forming on my glasses today while running in the freezing air forming around me. I apologize for the lack of useful post, at least you can make fun of my internal blotches of frozen insides. >_> Next Few Days: Posts are canceled! Just kidding, obviously. However, I am waiting for the new version of wordpress to come out so I can upload it. So Thinkblogger might have random spurts of a default template until I re-upload this one properly or create a new one. So if you notice something wrong, keep refreshing the screen so you can see all the random changes I keep making The Google Algorithms have Struck Again!
Not only that, but a lot of their current functions (like link:www.domain.com) are on the fritz. What do you Mean? Most of the page rank checkers available to you now are probably on the verge of eating themselves; iwebtool has been acting up for about 4-5 days now as well as many others have suddenly not been able to check for updates anymore as it is forbidden (SEOlogs). There are some which seem to be somewhat working, however it looks like certain data centers are hastily trying to update. A Working Page Rank Checker?!: Thinkblogger has a pagerank checker which seems to be updated and… working?! At least for me. It has been consistent and not spitting out random numbers. Check it out (Thinkbloggers Page Rank Checker) and see if anything has updated for you? Also, if you wish to check a site on multiple data center’s, I’d recommend: SEOCentro. Their’s seems to be somewhat stable, as well. Why so Early?! Last few times, The almighty Google has been spitting out page rank updates about a month quicker than normal. Who knows why they are trying to speed up the process; maybe it is because they wanted to change their algorithms anyway, so they figured now would be a better time as any? link:www.domain.com The link query in Google does not seem to be consistent or even working well right now; it seems to be reporting various numbers at various times. So perhaps it was not the best time to update PR, if that is what they are ‘truly’ doing. Thinkblogger’s back links can Last bit of Words: It is not for certain, however with a certain degree I can say it looks like they are changing their PR. They changed a few of my sites (the changes are not yet active on the toolbar). Back Links have also been somewhat of a vivid topic recently as well, the majority of people claim that their back links fluctuated horribly within the last 4 days, so who knows how accurate this page rank update will be. Final Statement: Watch this just be some kind of weird system hiccup due to the whole link: not working anymore. It just seems weird that something that should only happen 4x yearly happened 1 month after the previous one. It DOES seem a little weird, but maybe the previous one was not supposed to happen (that one was early too). This would have been around the predicted time where the *real* page rank update was supposed to occur. Most Memorable ThinkBlogger Posts: Round 1
Just as a fun figure of random/pointless information, going through my files, I had to edit Thinkblogger’s code about 128 times to get it to where it is today ;). By Far, the most popular post at Thinkblogger thus far has been a split between the Web 2.0 banner and the Some of those memorable posts included:

It looks like Google is at it again. Their last Page Rank update was somewhere between Jan 10th and 12th, which was rather early for them; now it looks like they are starting to update things yet again.
I wanted to start off today by posting an article about the more memorable posts at Thinkblogger, that I think everyone here will remember or enjoy.
