Back Links for Your Soul

LinkbacksOnce your website is up and running, you are done. No marketing involved, no painstaking work needed. That would be ideal, however that is never the case.

Your site or blog needs visitors to start making a profit. You can either pay hundreds in from PPC/CPM programs such as adwords of adbrite (or whatever else to your liking), or you could work on trying to get your website noticed through search engines and social bookmarking.

You need back links. Lots of quality back links. Not just any back links, but high quality and relevant ones. The more you have, the better (usually). Some techniques are free, while others you have to pay some amount of money to obtain.

  • Article Submission/Marketing: One of the most commonly used solutions. This has been around for a while and it is very useful in getting your name out there and getting you some back links. Though it may not necessarily help out your PR at all, thats not what is the problem here. You need back links, so … go get some.
  • Website Submission: Who would have thought? You should attempt to submit your websites to a lot of web directories that are available online. You can try your hand at one of the more powerful ones like DMOZ or Yahoo, or try with a few less frustrating ones that can be quite beneficial too.
  • Social Bookmarking: This is a no brainer. There are tons of social bookmarking sites for you to choose from and take advantage of. Stumbleupon, Digg, Furl, Del.icio.us, Twitter, Reddit, linkroll.com, spurl.net, among the countless others floating around the internet.
  • Yahoo Answers: Though this works, you have to be a bit careful with it. This is a good method to get some neat traffic. Find questions related to something on your blog or directly related and answer them with a back link to that question (to your site entry)
  • Forum Marketing: Join forums and start discussing topics. Many forums let you use a website link in your signature. Always try to be simple and unique while doing discussions and don’t spam. It takes time to build back links.
  • Comment on Blogs: This has been discussed a bit in the past, too. Comment on blogs related to your niche. Do not spam them or your comment is as good as deleted, anyway.

These are in fact, some quick tips for you to follow. You should use most if not all of these for your blog or site. Some of these are more beneficial than others. All of these, however, are great :)

Great post, yet again! Hey? I had a problem with some of my comments. Is something wrong with Thinkblogger?

Dan(18 March 2008 at 6:17 pm)3

Thanks for the tips. I hope to use these before the next PR update and see the benefits :)

@D: haha, that they do ;)

@Amanda: Yeah, I have been trying really hard to get the comments to work again, they do not seem to have any problems now. I had the comments up on backup but I am not sure if I got all of them now. Sorry Amanda. Things will be back to normal soon.

In other words, I coded something wrong and things almost blew up ;) so I had to bring it back to the way it was. I am just waiting for 2.5 to start from scratch then.

@Dan: If you work hard, you will see a change ;)
