Archives for February 2008Credit Exchange: Entrecards New and Exciting Feature
What are “Exchange Settings”: By the looks of it, it is a future idea which is being implemented by Entrecard, and what an idea it is! The ability to exchange cash for credits, or credits for cash. Most of you are thinking it is probably a great idea (and I agree, I wouldn’t mind making some money off of my 4,000-6,000 EC that I saved up for this week alone), however there are already a few websites out there currently trying to make a profit off of entrecard/cash trading. Those sites are in some serious trouble if this new feature goes through. What does it do right now? Right now, it does nothing. It is just there currently to gather data on what you think would be the best amount to trade, whether to buy or to sell. It is also noted that Entrecard.com may turn this feature on in the future, without notice! So dig deep and play around with the settings, you never know when you could be getting some money for your credits For the seasoned blogger who makes a nice earning from other sources, this could be rather pointless. However, for the blogger who just scrapes by to make 1000 credits in a 3-4 days so he can sell off for about $10, it is not so bad. Personally, if I was making more money elsewhere, I’d purchase about 5,000 entrecard credits and advertise everywhere on popular blogs. A lot of “Seasoned” blogs that still bother with entrecard can end up giving you about 100+ views daily. Multiply that by about 30-40 advertisements, that gives you a nice boost. Though Entrecard is still rather new, it has gained enormous momentum and profitability. Ads on entrecard.com go for about $3+ using project wonderful (and that is calculated on a day basis, so thats $3+ a day for a single ad spot, when it really has 6 ad spots on the campaign window). Right now, for example, it is at $4.60. Anyway, Entrecard is coming out with great ideas and is gaining popularity amongst bloggers. It already, in my opinion, surpasses other blogging networks which I have participated in, in the past. So prepare yourselves, new features are coming soon! The Google Algorithms have Struck Again!
Not only that, but a lot of their current functions (like link:www.domain.com) are on the fritz. What do you Mean? Most of the page rank checkers available to you now are probably on the verge of eating themselves; iwebtool has been acting up for about 4-5 days now as well as many others have suddenly not been able to check for updates anymore as it is forbidden (SEOlogs). There are some which seem to be somewhat working, however it looks like certain data centers are hastily trying to update. A Working Page Rank Checker?!: Thinkblogger has a pagerank checker which seems to be updated and… working?! At least for me. It has been consistent and not spitting out random numbers. Check it out (Thinkbloggers Page Rank Checker) and see if anything has updated for you? Also, if you wish to check a site on multiple data center’s, I’d recommend: SEOCentro. Their’s seems to be somewhat stable, as well. Why so Early?! Last few times, The almighty Google has been spitting out page rank updates about a month quicker than normal. Who knows why they are trying to speed up the process; maybe it is because they wanted to change their algorithms anyway, so they figured now would be a better time as any? link:www.domain.com The link query in Google does not seem to be consistent or even working well right now; it seems to be reporting various numbers at various times. So perhaps it was not the best time to update PR, if that is what they are ‘truly’ doing. Thinkblogger’s back links can Last bit of Words: It is not for certain, however with a certain degree I can say it looks like they are changing their PR. They changed a few of my sites (the changes are not yet active on the toolbar). Back Links have also been somewhat of a vivid topic recently as well, the majority of people claim that their back links fluctuated horribly within the last 4 days, so who knows how accurate this page rank update will be. Final Statement: Watch this just be some kind of weird system hiccup due to the whole link: not working anymore. It just seems weird that something that should only happen 4x yearly happened 1 month after the previous one. It DOES seem a little weird, but maybe the previous one was not supposed to happen (that one was early too). This would have been around the predicted time where the *real* page rank update was supposed to occur. Most Memorable ThinkBlogger Posts: Round 1
Just as a fun figure of random/pointless information, going through my files, I had to edit Thinkblogger’s code about 128 times to get it to where it is today ;). By Far, the most popular post at Thinkblogger thus far has been a split between the Web 2.0 banner and the Some of those memorable posts included:
Some Forgotten, but Good Posts:
Blogging: Writers Block and how to Overcome it.
Bloggers Block This is, of course, a bit more blogger-oriented. We have probably all, if not most, been through this as well. You know you want to create a post, but you just do not know what to put on your blog while trying to keep the quality of posts that you normally keep. If you experience this puzzling dilemma, then guess what: you are not alone! Your Blog is a Part of You: Although it is tempting to skim through some e-articles on a few directories to get some ideas, you have to keep in mind to write the articles to your style and flavor. You want your readers to understand your personality and humor while you convey important posts of pure awe-inspiring greatness, right? Stretch your Legs: Why not take a look at what is around you? Check out news sites (I usually check google news), or just read a section of the paper. If you need to be inspired, there is no point in sitting there for an hour trying to force your brain into overdrive. Although I know that you may be focused on writing your own blog or website, but you should really take a look at what other bloggers are writing about. You are on the right track: You are reading this post, which means that you are definitely on the right track *coughs*. However, I did not intend to boast, just so you know. What I mean is, you are out there reading other people’s blog posts, trying to be inspired. So to that, I say, that you are on the right track. I think that focusing on only your blog without seeing what others are doing or writing is bad form. I used to do that when I first started, and looking back at it now, I can see that it was definitely a mistake. I like to read what other bloggers have to say, and I think that they like to read what I have to say. Perhaps that is sugar-coating it a bit though. All I am saying: If you are having a brainfart or ‘bloggers block’ then by all means, do not force it. Take a break from blogging, give yourself a bit of special time just for yourself to let your brain reboot. Whether it be 10 minutes, 25 minutes, or 1 hour. During this time, do not think about your blog post; during this time, let your mind be free of it. When you are back, I am sure you can come up with something; if not, then you can always check what the other bloggers are writing about …. I mean … they DO multiply like rabbits … I am sure you can find a few | |
It looks like Google is at it again. Their last Page Rank update was somewhere between Jan 10th and 12th, which was rather early for them; now it looks like they are starting to update things yet again.
I wanted to start off today by posting an article about the more memorable posts at Thinkblogger, that I think everyone here will remember or enjoy.
It is true. I know. We have all had it at one point or another. Whether you are a seasoned blogger or perhaps just doing some homework; we have experienced the all painful, “Writers Block”. It is quite common when it comes to writing pretty much anything; so do not worry, you are definitely not the only one who experiences it.
